28. SCHOOL-CHURCH-ORPHAN SUCCESS

The day before we left Rwanda I went with our friend Moses from Cozy Guest House to the church-school of his cousin in a suburb of Kigali. Pastor Innocent Ntambara and his wife Vanencier were there to meet us, along with about a third of the students who hadn't yet left to go home, even though class had been dismissed at noon - a short time before we arrived.

After the soccer ball was pumped up full of air and the school supplies distributed, the children happily posed for a photo. Afterwards, they politely put everything back into the box to be put away in the office. Then some of the children accompanied us as we toured the school and property.

School/Church/Yard School/Church Side

The small building in the distant background is an office and a classroom for the youngest children. The larger building is the present-day location for church services and classroom for the older children. It is the dream of Pastor Innocent to renovate this building - after fundraising $5,000 - and divide it into three classrooms. Then he will open a primary school section where the graduates of the nursery school (Successful Christian School) and orphaned poor street children will be able to acquire a primary education.

Once Pastor Innocent has fulfilled his mission of building a school he would like to build a separate church building on the large piece of property that makes up the yard.

Also, he would like to purchase the house directly behind him in the photo below, and start/open Successful Christian Orphanage where homeless orphans and other street children will be housed and supported.

The photo below - with Moses and Pastor Innocent in the foreground - shows the beautiful central Kigali location of Successful Christian Ministries opposite a new suburban development on the right and older homes on the left.

I thoroughly enjoyed our guided tour of the school grounds and visit to the families in the surrounding houses. I am inspired by Pastor Innocent to do what I can, back in Canada, to reach people with a desire to help make Successful Ministries live up to its name.

One way people can help with great personal satisfaction is to sponsor the school fees of one of the children, thereby enabling them to continue their education beyond what is presently possible at SCM. Photos and information on individual children can be found by contacting Pastor Innocent at:
