To Orwell Today,

Dear Jackie,

I found your site whilst searching for George Orwell’s book on the internet. I recently recalled studying “Animal Farm” as part of my school syllabus (in the UK 35 years ago!) and following that up by private reading of 1984 in my own time – again, probably more than 30 years ago! This lead me to try and rediscover 1984 and in doing so I came across your website.

I am fascinated by and most grateful for your site (Thank you!) and am finding it helpful to re-read texts which I remember finding rather depressing the first time round!

As I am now actively retired and travelling - I write from Thailand - I have time for reading and study; of course the internet has replaced my daily newspaper and Radio 4 and so I’m well aware of the ‘alternative news’ and conspiracy theories that abound there which I find a lot more real and convincing than BBC World! The 1984 texts bring everything into much sharper focus.

If you have any more information about yourself and your work I would be pleased to know more. For me, knowing is one thing . . doing something about it is another.

For now, thank you again and I send my best wishes.
David Rhodes.

Greetings David,

It's great to have you as a reader. Thank you for your appreciative words about "Orwell Today" and how it's helping you rediscover Orwell's masterpiece "1984".

As regards to information about myself I have a bio on the Home Page, in the upper left corner, and to learn more about my work all you need to do is read the website, which I hope you continue to do.

All the best,
Jackie Jura
