1984 ORIGINAL MOVIE
To Orwell Today,
Dear Jackie,
I just "discovered" you this morning-- where have you been the past 40 years?!
I listened to JFK's speech (via BBC's email news for today) and read some of their articles on the conspiracy and new technologies invented AFTER 11/22/1963 which can analyze gunshot echo patterns, for example...
Perhaps I could write you in the future about an enormous amount of common ground which I share with you. I was 16 when JFK was killed, and committed to "George Orwell" long before that. For right now, I am trying to find a copy of the ORIGINAL "1984" movie which was filmed in black and white, starred Edmund O'brien as Winston, and was produced in about 1958. I have viewed it twice about 1960 or so, and it is memorable!
I have been looking for the original ever since the atrocity of that god-awful, god-damnable color-perversity version came out. The book 1984 could be so well-communicated today via the (original) movie, that I want to locate it to get the message out to several misguided person's today who were born into this whole distortion of truth, values, etc, etc.... I shouldn't "get started" on this topic --it's Thanksgiving today, and the "topic" is maddening!
I would be very, very thankful to YOU if you could please direct me in any way to finding any form of the original 1984 movie.
I'm so glad I "found" you today.

Greetings Daniel,
Thanks for your enthusiastic comments on the site. It's always great to be "discovered" and to connect with others who admire JFK and Orwell.
I too would like to see the original version of "1984" but have never tracked one down, although I once found a site that USED to carry it, but they were out of stock. And since then I haven't been able to find that site again. I think so far there have been THREE versions made although I've only seen the last one, which no doubt is the worst one.
Maybe someone reading the website will write in with details on how to get a copy. But I suspect that the powers-that-be have thrown it down the "memory hole" just like they've done with Orwell's BBC voice recordings.
But if there is hope, it lies with the readers, because only there, in those highly regarded masses, will the force to find the movie ever be generated.
All the best, Jackie Jura

In the walls of the cubicle there were three orifices. To the right of the speakwrite, a small pneumatic tube for written messages; to the left, a larger one for newspapers; and on the side wall, within easy reach of Winston's arm, a large oblong slit protected by a wire grating. This last was for the disposal of waste paper. Similar slits existed in thousands or tens of thousands throughout the building, not only in every room but at short intervals in every corridor. For some reason they were nicknamed memory holes. When one knew that any document was due for destruction, or even when one saw a scrap of waste paper lying about, it was an automatic action to lift the flap of the nearest memory hole and drop it in, whereupon it would be whirled away on a current of warm air to the enormous furnaces which were hidden somewhere in the recesses of the building...
