To Orwell Today,

To Mrs. Jacky Jura,

My name is Yu Meng Zhu, and I am a student at the University of Toronto currently taking global politics. I read your article regarding China and the Congo and I found that it provided much valuable information. I am currently working on a project to compare Western practices in the Congo and their effects in the region with that of China's practices and its possible aftermaths. I am wondering if you can recommand to me some books or resources regarding China's role in the Congo. And furthermore, I hope you can provide me with some recommendations regarding my project.

Thank you for your time and help.

Sincerely,
Yu Meng Zhu

Greetings Yu Meng,

I assume the article you're talking about is CONGO 500-POUND GORILLA CHINA or perhaps KABILA-CHINA-GORILLAS-NKUNDA.

Godcidently (my word for coincidently), before I'd gotten around to answering your question about Western practices and effects in Congo compared to China' practices and possible aftermath in Congo, the answer materialized right before my eyes in the form of a video-taped interview of General Laurent Nkunda discussing that very topic.

See NKUNDA LAST CONGO INTERVIEW

One day I plan to transcribe the interview [now accomplished at NKUNDA SAY CONGO OWNS RESOURCES. But until then you can watch the video and listen to Nkunda, a Congolese citizen - born and raised - who used to be a teacher - before he was a soldier - and who knows how to explain the situation very clearly.

All the best,
Jackie Jura
