Hope you are well. I watched that ORWELL TODAY LIBYA WATER VIDEO of your interview with Patrick Timpone that your visitor made for you. It's so well done - I really like it.

Such a shame what is going on over there. Just out of curiosity...do you think this article (about Gaddafi's son's wife pouring boiling water on their nanny) is true or is it some kind of manipulitve propaganda?

Nanny claims torture at Gaddafi's home, CNN, Aug 30, 2011 (A nanny who worked for one of Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi's sons told CNN of the horrific torture she suffered. She said the wife of Gaddafi's son Hannibal, Alina, poured boiling water on her. "She took me to a bathroom. She tied my hands behind my back, and tied my feet. She taped my mouth, and she started pouring the boiling water on my head like this," 30-year-old Ethiopian nanny Shwygar Mullah told CNN. She said her crime was refusing to beat Hannibal's toddler who wouldn't stop crying. Shwygar said she was actually scalded twice, and that the most recent episode was three months ago. CNN was unable to verify the claims.

You're right-on about that CNN "burnt nanny" article you sent - it's manipulative propaganda of the worst kind. Orwell says "war atrocity journalism gives newspapers a pretext for pornography" - and that's really what it is -- it's pornography.

Examples of this Orwellian war propaganda being waged by BIG BROTHER UNITED NATIONS on present-day Libya -- and the character assassination of Gaddafi -- can be evidenced in the newspaper coverage we're inundated with here in Canada (and that goes for every country in the world in every continent in the world, because BIG BROTHER owns all the newspapers/tv/movies/books/magazines...).

In "1984" Orwell said that Big Brother's Ministry of Truth concerned itself with lies. Orwell, through his hero Winston Smith, worked in the MINISTRY OF TRUTH writing lies and propaganda for THE LONDON TIMES. Other writers, in the cubicles beside him, wrote for other newspapers writing prolefeed "producing rubbishy newspapers, containing almost nothing except sport, crime, and astrology, sensational five-cent novelettes and films oozing with sex....".

Orwell said that somewhere in the bowels of the MINISTRY OF TRUTH "anomymous brains co-ordinated the whole effort and laid down the lines of policy which made it necessary that this fragment of the past should be preserved, that one falsified, and the other rubbed out of existence..."

During WWII Orwell lived in London and was the editor of a magazine called TRIBUNE where he wrote a weekly column called AS I PLEASE. In several AS I PLEASE columns Orwell addressed the concept of war propaganada:

BRITISH PRESS CIRCUS DOGS (One of the most extraordinary things about England is that there is almost no official censorship, and yet nothing that is actually offensive to the governing class gets into print. Circus dogs jump when the trainer cracks his whip, but the really well-trained dog is the one that turns his somersault when there is no whip...)

WAR ATROCITY SPECTACLES (I am not suggesting that the stories about Nazi atrocities are untrue. But they are played up largely because they give the newspapers a pretext for pornography. They know that innumerable people get a sadistic kick out of thinking about torture. And one can get a very similar kick out of barbarous actions committed by one's own side so long as they are thought of as the just punishment of evil-doers...)

NUREMBERG HANGINGS UNCIVILIZED (Before the war, public execution was a thing of the past in nearly every civilized country. Now it seems to be returning, at least for political crimes, and though we ourselves have not actually reintroduced it as yet, we participate at second hand by watching the news films. The newspaper accounts of the Nuremberg hangings were ambiguous. There was talk of the condemned men taking ten or twenty minutes to die...)

I am not happy with schemes to partition Germany, enrol millions of Germans in forced-labour gangs and impose reparations which will make the Versailles reparations look like a bus fare...)
