POEM FOR JFK 50 YEARS AGO

To Orwell Today,

November 22, 2013

Dear Jackie,

Today is the 50th anniversary of the Crime of the Century -- the assassination of President John F Kennedy and once again I weep.

I was a well educated homemaker living in northern Canada when I heard the news on the radio that President Kennedy had been assassinated in Dallas, Texas on November 22, 1963. It shook me to the core. I avidly followed all the information, significant and insignificant that came my way. Discrepancies, cover-ups, outright lies soon surfaced, and left no doubt in my mind that here was a conspiracy of major reach. That was my educated opinion then, and the more the conspirators try to demean and besmirch the memory of JFK, the more firmly I believe that there was a well-organized, well-financed plan afoot.

And so Jackie, in memory of the life and death of this much loved president, I enclose the following poem as I sadly reflected over what could have been, what should have been -- fifty years ago.

Sincerely,
I. Katherina Senger

FIFTY YEARS AGO
November 22, 1963 - November 22, 2013
A Tribute in Memory of President John F Kennedy

Don't let it be forgot
That once there was a spot
For one brief shining moment
That was known as Camelot

In Camelot, the lights went out, fifty years ago
And the world mourned, and the world wept bitter tears
And darkness fell upon the Earth
And darkness reigned for many years

In Dallas town, a prince was slain, fifty years ago
By evil men -- powerful, ruthless, cowards all
Causing such undying pain
Causing such profound destruction

The world lost all hope, fifty years ago
For a time of peace, without wars and distress
For a world "wherein we all must live and grow
Breathe the same air, share the same dreams"

Fifty years ago, a president was interred
In a place forever etched in the hearts of men.

A man of peace, a man of grace and wit
Of awesome courage and foresight
Cut down in the prime of his life
By a cabal of unparalleled might

An eternal flame glows where he lay
The world still weeps on this dark day
For what should have been
For what could have been
