The word "jura" is the plural of "jus" which is Latin for "justice",
the issue that interested Orwell more than anything else in life.

JURA MEANS JUSTICE

So it's appropriate that the great defender of "jura"
should create his masterpeace in a place of that name.

To Orwell Today,

...Three years ago I rode in a truck past the house where Orwell wrote 1984. It's on the island of Jura.

Greetings Bruce,

I'm well aware that Orwell's house is on the island of Jura. I'm one-up on your having driven by it three years ago because I was actually INSIDE Orwell's Jura house four MONTHS ago. I describe the experience in VISITING ORWELL'S BARNHILL.

There isn't much beyond Barnhill (Orwell's house) other than one farmhouse two miles north and one mile beyond that, the Corryvreckan whirlpool, about which I also wrote in ORWELL & CORRYVRECKAN WHIRLPOOL.

Is that where you were heading the day you drove by Orwell's house?

The word "jura" is the plural of "jus" which is Latin for "justice", the issue that interested Orwell more than anything else in life. So it's appropriate that the great defender of "jura" should create his masterpeace in a place of that name.

All the best,
Jackie Jura
