1984 INSPIRED THEATRE IN LONDON

Here's an email I received today:

Hi Orwell Today:

Thought I'd let you know my theatre company is presenting a short Orwell inspired comedy at the Soho Theatre, Dean Street, London at 1.00pm on Tuesday 9 December. It might sound a little irreverent but we've had some good press saying that the show is true to Orwell's ideas and like your site it deals with how Orwell relates today. Details below:

George Orwell's 1984 School Disco: Winston goes back to his school days to find George Orwell working as an English teacher under a totalitarian regime. What really lies in Classroom 101? And were Duran Duran really as great as we remember? Comedy and dancing and Twister with the audience in a bite size romp that celebrates everything that was great and sinister about 1984.

Tuesday 9th December 1.00pm
Soho Theatre, Dean Street, London W1D 3NE
Tickets: £8 (£5) Box office 020 7478 0151

Free glass of wine & mince pie!

Best wishes,
Steve Keyworth

Here's my response:

Greetings Steve,

Oh to be in England now that "George Orwell's 1984 School Disco" is here. And wine and mince pie would be great too! Congrats on your opening and I hope the play is a great success! No doubt Orwell would get a chuckle out of it too. He was such a great comedian himself in many ways.

All the best,
Jackie Jura
PS: I'll post your announcement on my site. Let me know how the reviews go.
