To Orwell Today,

Hello, Jackie,

Thank you so much for the time and expense you've put into this wonderful site! I, too, am a fan of Orwell's. A former high school English teacher, I taught 1984 and Animal Farm from the perspectives that this could happen one day in the future. Little did I know I was at the door step! to that future!

As one of the proles who has been targeted as possibly dangerous, I agree with you on the necessity of becoming conscious. Your website is a step toward achieving consciousness, and hopefully many will find it! The trick is in believing, isn't it? It's often times too much to mentally and emotionally handle.

May the numbers of individuals who become aware increase.

Thank you for your courageous example!

Best wishes,

Greetings Mary,

Thank you so much for your kind sentiments about "Orwell Today" and for your comments about the necessity of becoming conscious.

Orwell said it so beautifully - through Winston - as a preface to writing "1984":

"He wondered again for whom he was writing the diary.
For the future, for the past - for an age that might be imaginary...

He was a lonely ghost uttering a truth that nobody would ever hear.
But so long as he uttered it,
in some obscure way the continuity was not broken.
It was not by making yourself heard but by staying sane
that you carried on the human heritage."

All the best,
Jackie Jura
