To Orwell Today,
I have a 12"x18" Geletan Silver print by Jaques Lowe called Brothers. On the back is stamped Studio One #345 photographer Jacques Lowe. Do you have any idea what it might be worth?
Thank you for your help.
Sincerely,
Danielle Cioce
Greetings Danielle,
Actually, I'm not up-to-speed on the monetary value of photos or other JFK memorabilia, but readers sometimes are.
Not too long ago a reader wrote in requesting info regarding a letter JFK wrote to a PT-59 crew member. See JFK'S PT-59 CREW & JFK'S PT-59 FRIEND FACTO
In the end it seems the reader sold the JFK letter through Vintage Memorabilia, so perhaps you could give that a try.
I know the "Brothers" photo you're talking about, as I have two coffee-table books of Jacques Lowe's photography, scanned above (the first one published in 1983 and the second in 1993) and both contain that photo. The caption says it was snapped in the Biltmore Hotel, Los Angeles, July 14, 1960.
It was taken the day after JFK won the Democratic presidential nomination, and it's of JFK and Bobby discussing the choice of LBJ for VP. See LINCOLN-KENNEDY JOHNSONS ALIKE & LBJ'S FAMOUS PHOTO-OP
I wonder if you're aware that Jacques Lowe kept the negatives of his photos (some of them never developed) in a safe-deposit-box in the basement of one of the World Trade Center Twin Towers - and that they were allegedly destroyed during 9/11. See ANOTHER ATTACK ON JFK'S IMAGE & JFK PHOTOS BY JACQUES LOWE
Thank God (and Jaques Lowe and all the other photographers) the world has so many wonderful images of the "brothers". See JFK & BOBBY TAKEN FROM US
All the best,
Jackie Jura
