To Orwell Today,

Madam,

Hope this letter finds you well.

June 25th is Orwell's birthday. I was wondering if we could use it to collect funds for the restoration of the house. What do you suggest? With the response that I have got so far I am not very sanguine that we can succeed. I would like to hear your opinion about it and whether you can help and is the project worthwhile.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Yours faithfully.
Nasir

Greetings Nasir,

I don't think fund-raising for the restoration of the house will be successful either because there has been no interest from the readers of Orwell Today so far. And, as you say, you're getting no response from the organizations in India that are supposed to be doing something, ie Dr Gupta and Bihar Tourism, even after worldwide media coverage has been brought to their attention.

Those of us who honour Orwell will have to carry on doing it in our own way, ie me with Orwell Today and you with your occassional contributions of commentary to the website.

Spreading his message of warning to the world is what mattered to Orwell and that's the most important thing we can do.

All the best,
Jackie Jura
