Greetings from Australia. I am researching architect Walter Burley Griffin's work in Lucknow, India (which included a new building for the Pioneer Press in the 1930s). Your email/web exchange with 'Nasir' came up on a Google search (I used Griffin, India and Lucknow as keywords). I wish to contact Nasir in connection with my work. Might you please forward this to him? If I understand his message correctly, he lives in Lucknow? I couldn't determine from the web page the date of your messages.

Greetings to Australia where I lived and worked for a year in the early 70s. We landed by ship in Perth from Singapore and eventually made our way across the Nullabar Plain to Sydney and as far north as Townsville. I loved it "down under".

Yes, Nasir lives in Lucknow, India and is knowledgeable about the history of his city, including its relationship to Orwell and your fellow-countryman, the architect of the Pioneer Press building, who is buried there. Orwell was offered the editorship of the Pioneer Press in the latter 1930s and would have accepted had his health permitted and had the offer not been rescinded. See INDIA, ORWELL, JFK & CHINA.

Nasir and I started communicating about three years ago over plans for the SHRINE TO ORWELL in Motihari, which is about 250 miles from Lucknow. But we lost touch about a year ago when he wrote to say there was no news on the project.

Once I dig out his address I'll forward your email and hopefully he'll contact you, or perhaps he'll see our exchange and drop a line to the website.
