re: ANCESTRAL BOOKENDS TO ORWELL

Hi Jackie,

Thanks for additional account of your trip with pictures. The associations with Animal Farm were enlightening. Man's contact with mother nature, earth and animals is vital for our physical, mental and spiritual health and well being. I live in Dorset England, growing up on a family farm in 1940s/50s. My grandfather had early copies of 1984 and Animal Farm. He was in trench war 1914-18 and was sceptical of moon landing and JFKs magic bullet theories, believing that truth could be changed by false newsreels and propoganda. He admired the works of William Barnes, a Dorset dialect visionary who wrote warnings of a future where traffic would be god, countryside would disappear, poor health of nation where children would have nowhere to play. How right he was.

Hi Raymond,

I'm so glad you enjoyed the Pilgrimage with its visit to Animal Farm and reminiscences of grandparents. What a shock it would be for them to see the world we live in now. I often think our generation has really let the side down in that we've just rolled over and done nothing while our children's future is being handed to brutal tyrants who will deprive THEIR children, our grandchildren, of a decent life in a decent world.

All the best,
Jackie Jura
