Senator calls Policies of UN Panel on Climate Change
'Corruption of Science'
Canada Free Press, Feb 3, 2007

Washington, DC – Sen. James Inhofe, (R-Okla.), Ranking Member of the Environment & Public Works Committee, today commented on the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change's (IPCC) Fourth Assessment Summary for Policymakers. "This is a political document, not a scientific report, and it is a shining example of the corruption of science for political gain. The media has failed to report that the IPCC Summary for Policymakers was not approved by scientists but by UN political delegates and bureaucrats," Senator Inhofe said. The IPCC is only releasing the Summary for Policymakers today, not the actual scientific report which is not due out until May 2007.

"This is nothing new. On November 15th, 2005, I addressed my colleagues in the United States Senate to express the importance of returning integrity to the processes that govern the work of the IPCC. I outlined several concrete proposals to reform the IPCC process during this Senate Floor address and in a subsequent follow-up letter to the IPCC chairman," Senator Inhofe said.

"On December 7, 2005, I followed up my speech with a letter to the IPCC Chairman noting that the 'science had been manipulated in order to reach a predetermined conclusion.' Sadly, the IPCC has refused to make any of the reforms necessary to ensure scientific integrity," Senator Inhofe added. "The UN guidelines themselves mandate that the science be altered to conform to the Summary for Policymakers which is not approved by the scientists, but by political delegates of the UN," Senator Inhofe said.

The IPCC concedes it alters the underlying scientific conclusions on page 4 of "Appendix A to the Principles Governing IPCC Work": "Changes (other than grammatical or minor editorial changes) made after acceptance by the Working Group or the Panel shall be those necessary to ensure consistency with the Summary for Policymakers or the Overview Chapter."

"You don't need to look any farther than yesterday's AP article about the UN IPCC meeting in Paris where political delegates are arguing about the final wording of the Summary for Policymakers. Riibeta Abeta of the island nation Kiribati, openly admitted to the AP that the Summary for Policymakers is designed to convince world leaders to take action. 'The purpose is to get [policymakers] moving,' Abeta said, according to the AP," Senator Inhofe explained.

Gore's Message To Climate Change Skeptics (Tells 60 Minutes That Doubting Global Warming Is Man-Made Is Akin To Believing Earth Is Flat). CBS, Mar 28, 2008
Self-avowed "P.R. agent for the planet" Al Gore says those who still doubt that global warming is caused by man - among them, Vice President Dick Cheney - are acting like the fringe groups who think the 1969 moon landing never really happened, or who once believed the world is flat... I think that those people are in such a tiny, tiny minority now with their point of view, they’re almost like the ones who still believe that the moon landing was staged in a movie lot in Arizona and those who believe the world is flat,” says Gore. "That demeans them a little bit, but it's not that far off," he tells Stahl. Gore’s campaign to make the world more aware of man’s role in global warming won him the Nobel Peace Prize last year. He donated the $750,000 prize money to The Alliance for Climate Protection, the non-profit he started to help him on his quest. He and his wife, Tipper, tell Stahl they not only matched the Nobel money with their own, but they are also donating to the organization the significant profits from his book and Oscar-winning documentary film about global warming, "An Inconvenient Truth." The funds will help The Alliance for Climate Protection execute a new $300 million ad campaign on global warming set to start next week...). See DARK SIDE OF MOON HOAX

Blair wants climate revolution. BBC, Mar 15, 2008
Former Prime Minister Tony Blair has called for a "global environment revolution" to tackle climate change. Mr Blair is on a visit to Japan to discuss global greenhouse gas targets. In a speech to a meeting of G8 ministers building on the 2005 Gleneagles summit, he stressed the need for a "global deal". He suggested it should be led by the UN and that failure to act on climate change "would be deeply and unforgivably irresponsible". During his visit, organised by Climate Group, Mr Blair is due to meet climate change experts from China, Japan, Europe and the US. He is attempting to guide attempts to secure a deal involving China and the US to slash emissions by 50% by 2050, on the first part of a trip that will also take him to China and India. He said: "Unfortunately the source of the emissions is irrelevant. It is the fact and amount of them that matters. "The UN machinery is valiantly striving to put this deal together. The UN and the UN alone is the right forum to reach the global agreement....Mr Blair, who stood down as prime minister last year, is also a peace envoy to the Middle East Climate Group for the "quartet" of the EU, Russia, the US and UN....

Violent storms, water shortages in store for Canada: report. CBC News, Mar 7, 2008
Canada can expect to see more devastating storms and extreme weather because of climate change, a yet-to-be released federal report concludes. The report, prepared by more than 100 Canadian scientists on behalf of Canada's Department of Natural Resources, was released Friday, but CBC News learned Thursday what it contains from several people involved in compiling the report. The report focuses on the impact climate change will have on the country, in terms of the weather it will generate, and the effects on areas like infrastructure, energy production and drinking water. The report, the first of its kind done for the federal government in 10 years, says Canada can expect more ice storms, torrential downpours, floods, droughts and landslides, as well more days of extreme heat and smog. The report says the increase of extreme weather has already begun, and will only get worse....He said the extreme weather will mean more insurance claims from damaged homes and property, while the country's roads and bridges will take a beating. Coastlines in some communities will erode more rapidly than usual. Canada will have to adapt, McBean said...On a related note, some of Canada's largest environmental groups issued a report on Friday criticizing what they consider a lack of leadership on the environment and outlining a roadmap on the issue. "Canada is at a critical turning point," said Peter Robinson, executive director of the David Suzuki Foundation, one of the groups involved in the second report. It calls for Canada to immediately recommit to the Kyoto Protocol. It also proposes a key policy change to set prices for greenhouse gas emissions starting at $30 per tonne of CO2 in 2009, then increasing them to $75 by 2020. "[Canadians] want to see their country transformed from a paper tiger — quick to sign agreements, but slow to implement solutions — into an action hero," the report urges. The groups involved in the report also included Greenpeace Canada, World Wildlife Fund, Ecojustice, Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society, and Pembina Institute.
