This is about the article you made on the song by Don McLean. It's in fact alot different from what you interpreted it as. It's actually about the death of the musician, James Dean. All the things that happen in the song were a document of Don's day when James Dean died. James was Don's idol, and he was crushed.

As I have said on more than one occassion the song has MORE THAN ONE MEANING. Some people think it's about the day Buddy Holly, Richie Valens, and the Big Bopper died and now there is you, who thinks it is about the day James Dean died. It probably is about the deaths of all those guys but it could also be about the death of America, which we are presently tragically experiencing.
