To Orwell Today,
re: VISITING ORWELL'S ORWELL

Dear Jackie Jura,

I have just seen and enjoyed your account of visiting my village of Orwell, Cambridgeshire and wonder if you have seen our village website at ORWELL PAST & PRESENT. I'm afraid that George Orwell's possible connection with the village is not mentioned, (although we are aware that he walked through the village on occasions), but the site covers many aspects of Orwell's history which you may find interesting.

I have a feeling that I have made contact with you before, some years ago, so forgive me if I am repeating myself!

Best wishes,
Sue Miller -- Secretary, Orwell Local History Society & Editor, Orwell Village website

Greetings Sue,

So glad you enjoyed reading about my visit to Orwell's village of Orwell -- that was in August 2004. Hard to believe that was thirteen years ago!

I don't think you've ever contacted me before but Katie -- who I met in front of the Orwell church -- sent an email in 2013 saying that she and a friend (that must be you) were planning a Literary Weekend that would be featuring Orwell's 1984.

Thanks for sending the link to your Orwell website which, really, should include a mention of the Orwell connection to Orwell -- afterall, your village is conjectured to be the source of Blair's nom de plume.

All the best,
Jackie Jura
