"Some animals are more equal than others."
ANIMAL FARM
Animal Farm - published in 1945 when he was forty-two years old - is Orwell's eighth book. It was written during WWII after Orwell quit the BBC in 1943 and his wife Eileen was working in the Ministry of Information. They worked on the book together and it was a tragedy that it wasn't printed until five months after her death. It was considered too "anti-Stalin" and "anti-Communist" while "Uncle Joe" was England's friend. When it was finally published after the war (when Stalin was the enemy again) it was a worldwide success. ~ Jackie Jura
