NEW ORLEAN'S 9-11

There's a "9-11" in the date August 29, 2005 if you add the "9" and the "2" which represent the day the hurricane hit New Orleans.

It's a minor detail but interesting when added to the heap of other symbolic things about the event. ~ Jackie Jura

Fake documentary named "Oil Storm" (aired on FX-Network June 5, 2005)
"Oil storm" examines what happens when a Category 6 hurricane in the Gulf of Mexico slams into Louisiana, crushing the city of New Orleans and crippling the vital pipeline for refined oil. It examines the ripple effect of that event and the ensuing cascade of disasters associated with it...As the country reels from the loss of life and energy reserves associated with the hurricane's fury, the price of crude oil skyrockets...America's lifeline has been severed...

"When the Levee Breaks" (1929 song sung by Led Zeppelin)
If it keeps on raining, levee's going to break,
If it keeps on raining, levee's going to break,
And the water gonna come in, have no place to stay...

"New Orleans is Sinking" (1989 song by Tragically Hip)
...My memory is muddy
What's this river that I'm in?
New Orleans is sinking man
And I don't wanna swim...

WITNESSES HEARD LEVEE BOOM

Tragically Hip open for Rolling Stones. CBC, Sep 3, 2005
The Rolling Stones played at Magnetic Hill outside Moncton, New Brunswick in the group's first Atlantic Canada performance. The crowd was estimated at between 75,000 and 85,000 people. Canada's Ambassador to USA was in audience. It was the largest concert in history for Atlantic Canada -- a region often left off the tour schedules of high-profile bands. The only other draw as big as the Stones at Magnetic Hill was Pope John Paul II in 1984.

Rolling Stones play Moncton's Magnetic Hill. Halifax Herald, Sep 3, 2005
They didn't play New Orleans is Sinking just before the Stones came on but the Tragically Hip brought a storm of cerebral rock to Magnetic Hill, with head-shaven frontman Gord Downie imploring, "GIVE TO THE RED CROSS! They're out there somewhere, they've got big buckets!" over the snarling dual guitars of Paul Langlois and Rob Baker...Then the stage was bathed in red light while lizard-skin patterns flashed on the screens for the Watts tribal beat on Sympathy for the Devil. As flames blasted out of the top of the stage, Jagger strutted across the catwalk over the stage, waving his hands like a satanic high priest. I guess when it comes to rock 'n' roll, you have to give the devil his due.

BYE, BYE AMERICAN PIE (drove my Chevy to the levee but the levee was dry)
