Hi,

I just have a question.

As far as I know, the indians had no concept of actually owning land. Thats why settlers didn't have a very hard job "settling", because they didn't have to fight the indians for their land in the first place. Later the indians where threatened so much that they had to fight back to just get someplace to be. But my point is, they didn't understand the concept of owning land. It's not like they just shared it, they didn't think that way. Sure they had possesions like clothes and stuff, but when the settlers came to negotiate land, they didn't understand the meaning of owning something so big and in a way "holy" to them.

So, when you write that indians "want their land back", I just noticed, how could that be? Is this thing for real? I live in Europe, and I haven't heard of the problem before, so help me out? Is this something someone's making up or are the indians forgetting their roots?

I thought the poem and the articles and commentary I have elsewhere on the website would have explained it clearly enough. Here's a summary:

The Indians are being run by the men in grey suits who are using them to wail and whine and thump their drums demanding land they never owned but that they say belongs to them because their ancestors were here before everyone else's ancestors. What land they DO own is being used by the men in grey suits to run mega-million dollar gambling and booze operations (aka casinos), tax-free, in exchange for giving the Indians a piece of the action.

Once Canada's land is handed over to the Indians the men in grey suits, who are fronting the money to build condos, hotels etc, etc, will foreclose on the loan, which has the land as collateral, and the land that the government has given to the Indians will then belong to the men in grey suits.

I hope that clears up some of your confusion.
