About kilowatts and your webpage SPINNING WINDLESS WINDMILLS
I don't know if windmills are a good idea or not. I'm thinking about building one, but I can't tell if it would be just too noisy or not on my property. Anyway, I think you might have a typo on your webpage. You write:
"For example, even running at its capacity (with hurricane wind ideally) a windmill only generates between 700 kilowatts and 2.5 megawatts of electricity. To put that miniscule amount into perspective, it takes 1 kilowatt to power 10 lightbulbs. So, on a good blow day, one windmill could power 700 lightbulbs."
Hmmm. If 1 kilowatt powers 10 lightbulbs (assuming they are 100 watt bulbs and not 60 watts), 700 kilowatts would power 7,000 lightbulbs (not 700). The math is 10 bulbs times 700 kilowatts, which equals 7,000 bulbs. Of course if rather the amount produced is 2.5 megawatts, then we are talking 25,000 lightbulbs. You should know, however, that commercial windmills produce as much as 20 megawatts, with 10 to 15 megawatts being the norm. It's not uncommon for residential windmills to produce 5 megawatts.
Did you actually personally witness windmills powered by deisel fuel at their base? What city was this in?

Doubleplus thanks for the correction to my miscalculation on how many lightbulbs one kilowatt can power -- it's much appreciated.
No, I haven't personally witnessed windmills being powered by deisel engines at their base because I've never seen a commercial windmill up close -- but looking at the design -- in photos -- I can imagine an engine being there.

Reader Marcel from Netherlands says they tried everything possible by law to prevent windmills from being erected but unfortunately the government endorses the mills and it seems that it doesn't matter anymore, as long as they don't have one in their backyard themselves. It costs all teh dutches a lot of tax Money, but it doesn't seem to matter. Since the rich windmill owners will only get much richer. And it really doesn't contribute to decrease the global warming....)

The scheme was originated by Enron, has been going on for about five years, keeps expanding and very few people have the courage to stand up against it.
