I find your site thought provoking, insightful and frightening in its similarities of today and the Orwellian 1984.

I am writing you because your page "FRENCHSPEAK IS NEWSPEAK" totally rubbed me the wrong way and made me question the original impression I had of you.

If anything English, specifically American English, is the closest equivalent to Newspeak that I can think of. It is being shoved down the throats of the entire world. Your obviously a disgruntled Canadian who thinks Orwell was writing about you and your issues with French Canada.

I totally give the Quebecois credit for wanting to keep there uniqueness and not become a mirror image of the U$A, something like that place you all call Alberta, it might as well be considered the 51st State.

Im a American who moved to Montreal to get away from the Police State the U$A has become.

You sound like a typical Kaybecker to me, ie someone who cares more about your Frenchness than you care about anything else - including the thousands of other issues this website discusses, and which Orwell was concerned with.

You also sound anti-American and seem to be blaming your own nation and its language for the evils of the world, which is a typically Quebec thing to do. There is nothing more boring than listening to french people whining about their frenchness. Frankly, out here in the rest of the world, nobody gives a dam.

By the way, if you want to see some Police State action in your adopted home, try cracking an anti-French joke or displaying a sign written in the English language. That's a non-non in Kaybec and they'll be at your door toot-sweet.
