To Orwell Today,

Interesting stuff on your web site re PT 109*. However your willingness to be involved in the President Obama "birther" conspiracy is comical.

-Kirk Roebuck

Greetings Kirk,

I don't have an opinion on where Obama was born -- it could have been USA or Africa or somewhere unknown -- but I do have an opinion on whether or not he's a natural-born American citizen -- and I don't think he is.

From my reading and understanding on the subject of Obama's eligibility to be in high political office -- in his case he's been a state senator and then President of the USA -- I don't think he qualifies.

Apparently at one time he had Indonesian citizenship -- attending school there as a child and travelling to Pakistan on an Indonesian passport when he was twenty -- and there's no proof that he's revoked that passport -- just as there's no proof he has an American birth certificate. If he did in fact have Indonesian citizenship -- which travelling on an Indonesian passport requires -- that would disqualify him from being president because dual-citizenship is not allowed under the USA Constitution.

If you think questioning Obama's place of birth is a "comical conspiracy" you must have been rolling in the aisles over Obama's own joke (scripted as it was) about being born on another planet:

"Contrary to the rumours you've heard, I was not born in a manger.
I was actually born on Krypton,
and sent here by my father Jor-El
to save the planet Earth... ha, ha."

Actually, the "birther" conspiracy pales in comparison to the "robot" conspiracy which questions not only Obama's eligibility to be president, but also his eligibility to be human -- and it's no laughing matter.

The fact that Obama is incapable of stringing two words together on his own -- without reading from a teleprompter -- has led questioning minds to question HIS mind, ie does he even have one?

All the best,

...Crossing the White House lawn on the way out that morning I passed a giant crater, surrounded by heavy machinery. For the better part of a year hordes of workmen have been digging and building something deep below the White House — though what it is no one who knows will really say. “Infrastructure” is the answer you get when you ask. But no one really does ask, much less insist on the public’s right to know. The president of the United States can’t move a bust in the Oval Office without facing a firestorm of disapproval. But he can dig a hole deep in his front yard and build an underground labyrinth and no one even asks what he’s up to....

Obama could not look me in the eye...like shaking hands with a dead fish Father of Slain SEAL on meeting Obama), Weekly Standard, Oct 25, 2012
Charles Woods, the father of Tyrone Woods, who was killed in the 9/11 terrorist attack at the American consulate in Benghazi, Libya, reveals details of meeting Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton at the publically broadcast memorial service for the slain Americans at Andrews Air Force Base only days after the attack. And, in a recent radio appearance, Woods publicly questions who made the call not to send in back-up forces to possibly save his son's life, as well as the three other Americans killed in Benghazi (which includes the American ambassador to Libya). "When [Obama] came over to our little area" at Andrew Air Force Base, says Woods, "he kind of just mumbled, you know, 'I'm sorry'. His face was looking at me, but his eyes were looking over my shoulder like he could not look me in the eye. And it was not a sincere, 'I'm really sorry, you know, that your son died', but it was totally insincere, more of whining type, 'I’m sorry'". Woods says that shaking President Obama's hands at his son's memorial service was "like shaking hands with a dead fish". "It just didn't feel right", he says of his encounter with the commander in chief. "And now that it's coming out that apparently the White House situation room was watching our people die in real time, as this was happening", Woods says, he wants answers on what happened -- and why there was no apparent effort to save his son's life. "Well, this is what Hillary did", Woods continues. "She came over and, you know, did the same thing -- separately came over and talked with me. I gave her a hug, shook her hand. And she did not appear to be one bit sincere -- at all...

Trump offers Obama $5-million to release his passport/college records, The Hill, Oct 24, 2012
"All he has to do for $5 million to the charity or charities of his choice is get his colleges to immediately give his applications and records and also to release his passport records," Trump said in the announcement. "When he does this to my satisfaction, if it's complete, this check will be sent immediately." In a video posted to his YouTube channel and distributed through social media, Trump spoke directly to the camera, criticizing the president for a lack of transparency. Trump added that the records must be released before the election, setting the deadline as Oct. 31 at 5 p.m. Trump had framed Wednesday's announcement as a possible "October surprise" that deserved extensive media coverage and could change the trajectory of the election season.

USA Supreme Court refuses to hear Obama birth certificate case, Digital Journal, Jun 12, 2012
...The Supreme Court did not offer any comment as to why they refused to hear the so-called "birther" appeal....The 9th Circuit noted that...the challenge of Obama's legitimacy to serve as president is a political question beyond any federal court's power to decide. Only Congress can impeach a president, and any citizen petition for a common-law writ to initiate an inquiry into the legitimacy of the president would have to be brought through the federal court in Washington, D.C.... Removal of a President from office is a power only enjoyed by Congress, pursuant to Article I, Section 3 of the Constitution""....Only "a natural born citizen" of the United States may serve as president. According to the challengers, Obama's father is Kenyan and he (Obama) was born in an African country, and not in Hawaii. They alleged that Obama's Hawaii birth certificate is forgery....

Danish TV host mocks Obama for his rhetoric, Weekly Standard, Mar 23, 2012
Thomas Buch-Andersen, host of the Danish TV show Detektor, mocked President Obama's political rhetoric in a recent episode. "Obama used a metaphor from boxing to explain Denmark's role in the world," says Buch-Andersen, introducing the segment. He then rolls the tape. "That's fairly typical of the way that Danes have punched above their weight in international affairs," President Obama says at a press availability in the Oval Office with Prime Minister Helle Thorning-Schmidt of Denmark. "It's nice to be praised," Buch-Andersen remarks. "We punch harder than our weight class would suggest. But how much should we read into his words? According to Obama, are we doing any better than, say, the Norwegians?" The TV host again turns to the tape, this time showing President Obama in the Oval Office with Norwegian prime minister Jens Stoltenberg. "I've said this before, but I want to repeat: Norway punches above its weight," Obama says. Back to Buch-Andersen. "Hmm. So Norway packs a punch too. But what about the Netherlands? Here, their head of government, Mark Rutte, visits Obama." The tape rolls yet again. "We have no stronger ally than the Netherlands," says Obama. "They consistently punch above their weight." The TV host continues, pointing to the similar rhetoric Obama used when Ireland's head of state came to town, and then the Philippines. Buch-Andersen wonders aloud, "Maybe the copy key got stuck on the presidential speechwriter's keyboard...."

President Barack Obama spoke to 6th grade students at Graham Road Elementary School in Falls Church, Va., Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2010. Apparently there is no venue too small to require multiple teleprompters. He's preparing for the next biggie - immigration reform which will make all their parents voters. Ladies and gentlemen, your President is a robot. Or a wax sculpture. Maybe a cardboard cutout. All I know is no human being has a photo smile this amazingly consistent. On Wednesday, September 25, 2009, the Obamas hosted a reception at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, during which they stood for 130 photographs with visiting foreign dignitaries in town for the UN meeting. The President has exactly the same smile in every single shot. See for yourself -- the pictures are up on the State Department's flickr. And, of course, compressed above into 20 seconds for your viewing pleasure.

Obama the Robot reminds me of this famous robot from 40 years ago: Agent Maxwell Smart's robot Hymie. Obama's safety net: the Teleprompter, Politico, Mar 5, 2009
President Barack Obama doesn't go anywhere without his TelePrompter. The textbook-sized panes of glass holding the president's prepared remarks follow him wherever he speaks. Resting on top of a tall, narrow pole, they flank his podium during speeches in the White House's stately parlors. They stood next to him on the floor of a manufacturing plant in Indiana as he pitched his economic stimulus plan. They traveled to the Department of Transportation this week and were in the Capitol Rotunda last month when he paid tribute to Abraham Lincoln in six-minute prepared remarks. Obama's reliance on the teleprompter is unusual -- not only because he is famous for his oratory, but because no other president has used one so consistently and at so many events, large and small. After the teleprompter malfunctioned a few times last summer and Obama delivered some less-than-soaring speeches, reports surfaced that he was training to wean himself off of the device while on vacation in Hawaii. But no such luck.

His use of the teleprompter makes work tricky for the television crews and photographers trying to capture an image of the president announcing a new Cabinet secretary or housing plan without a pane of glass blocking his face. And it is a startling sight to see such sleek, modern technology set against the mahogany doors and Bohemian crystal chandeliers in the East Room or the marble columns of the Grand Foyer. "It's just something presidents haven't done", said Martha Joynt Kumar, a presidential historian who has held court in the White House since December 1975. "It's jarring to the eye. In a way, it stands in the middle between the audience and the president because his eye is on the teleprompter".

Just how much of a crutch the teleprompter has become for Obama was on sharp display during his latest commerce secretary announcement. The president spoke from a teleprompter in the ornate Indian Treaty Room for a few minutes. Then Gov. Gary Locke stepped to the podium and pulled out a piece of paper for reference. The president's teleprompter also elicited some uncomfortable laughter after he announced Kansas Gov. Kathleen Sebelius as his choice for Health and Human Services secretary. “Kathy,” Obama said, turning the podium over to Sebelius, who waited at the microphone for an awkward few seconds while the teleprompters were lowered to the floor and the television cameras rolled. Obama has relied on a teleprompter through even the shortest announcements and when repeating the same lines on his economic stimulus plan that he's been saying for months — whereas past presidents have mostly worked off of notes on the podium except during major speeches, such as the State of the Union....Obama has never tried to hide his use of a teleprompter. It was a mainstay during the final months of his campaign. He brought it to county fairs and campaign rallies alike -- and once had it set up in the ring at a rodeo. In a break from his routine, Obama did not use a teleprompter during his pre-Inauguration speech at a factory in Bedford Heights, Ohio -- and his delivery seemed to suffer. He paused too long at parts. He accentuated the wrong words. And overall he sounded hesitant and halting as he spoke from the prepared remarks on the podium.... "He uses them to death", a television crewmember who also covered the White House under Presidents Bill Clinton and George W. Bush said of the teleprompter. "The problem is, he never looks at you. He’s looking left, right, left, right -- not at the camera. It's almost like he's not making eye contact with the American people"...
