A story in the news today [June 2003] reports that the United Nations wants the taxpayers of the United States to pay tribute (my word for CONtribute) to them in the amount of $1-Billion dollars for renovations to their fifty year old headquarters in New York City. The United States already pay tributes more than any other nation in the world to the United Nations. Without pay tributions from the nations comprising its membership, the United Nations would shrivel up and die, just like Winston hoped would happen to Big Brother in "1984". McCarthy has recently been proven right about Communist infiltration of the highest levels of the United States' government, and so his opinion about the United Nations is worth listening to. ~ Jackie Jura

The following excerpt is taken from a book written by McCarthy's secretary. Here she is describing his opinion of the United Nations:

"... I have been asked, "What did Senator McCarthy think of the United Nations?" For one thing, he was well aware that the U.N. Charter had been drawn up by the Communists, pro-Communists, Socialists and the like. He knew the Charter did not guarantee protection of private property, nor religious freedom, and in fact under the United Nations there is no God. Senator McCarthy suggested that we give Red China our seat in the United Nations, and that would get us out from under the jurisdiction of that dangerous organization."

The UN General Assembly has approved a two-year budget of $4.17 billion (N483.7trillion) for the world body. The assembly voted 142 to one for the two-year budget, which was slightly short of the $4.2 billion (N487.2 trillion) requested by UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon. NAN reports that the US, which contributes about 22 per cent of the organisation’s budget, was the only country to vote against the budget. The US cited concerns that the actual budget would be higher than what was approved.

Applauding in acclamation, the United Nations General Assembly today appointed Foreign Minister Ban Ki-moon of the Republic of Korea as the world body’s next Secretary-General, to succeed Kofi Annan when he steps down on 31 December. Smiling, waving and nodding to the members of the 192-nation body, the man who will become the world’s top diplomat for five years on 1 January, was escorted by the UN Chief of Protocol through the Assembly central aisle to the podium. Addressing the assembled delegates, the Secretary-General-designate, who will be the UN’s eighth chief and the second from Asia, pledged to carry out reforms, building on Mr. Annan’s legacy....Mr. Annan hailed Mr. Ban as a “future Secretary-General who is exceptionally attuned to the sensitivities of countries and constituencies in every continent – a man with a truly global mind at the helm of the world’s only universal organization....They paid tribute to Mr. Annan for his work in steering the UN through 10 difficult years. After the speeches, Mr. Ban stood with his wife in front of the blue and white UN flag depicting a globe of the world in its centre to receive the congratulations of delegates and UN staff. The last Asian Secretary-General was U Thant of Myanmar (then called Burma), who left office in 1971.

Most historians now accept that Alger Hiss fed secrets to Soviet agents...Hiss was the elegant diplomat who sat behind President Franklin Roosevelt at his Yalta meeting with Stalin and managed the conferences that created the United Nations.

In 1948 his once warm friend Whittaker Chambers called him a Communist before the House Committee on Un-American Activities. The accused, Hiss, was a suave, handsome and highly credentialed government official; Whittaker, the accuser, was a fat, rumpled ex-Communist with bad teeth and a gnarled personality. Hiss haughtily dared Chambers to repeat his charge in a legally unprotected setting, never suspecting that Chambers possessed proof of their sying. But Chambers promptly complied and Hiss was compelled to sue for libel, forcing the accuser to present evidence. Chambers confessed to previously being a spy and produced copies of documents that he had stashed away 10 years earlier to protect himself against retribution by Stalin's agents. The documents had provably crossed Hiss's desk at the State Department and been copied on Hiss's typewriter, by his wife, Priscilla. The evidence prevailed at a second trial.

"If Hiss had disappeared after 44 months in prison", says author Edward White, "he would have been just one other undercover agent who had lied, betrayed his country and gotten caught". But steered by Hiss, his loyal son, Tony, and ardent supporters, undeterred even by damning discoveries in Soviet communications, Hiss sold himself to gullible college audiences. He acquired credibility as his pursuers, including Joseph McCarthy, lost theirs. By the time of his death in 1996, Hiss had regained much of his footing, including his government pension and even his license to practice law in Massachusetts.

Here's what Theodore Sorenson says in his biography entitled KENNEDY on page 665:

"He knew the Chinese would soon threaten again, in India or elsewhere. 'These Chinese are tough,' he remarked in one off-the-record session. 'It isn't just what they say about us but what they say about the Russians. They are in the Stalinist phase, believe in class war and the use of force, and seem prepared to sacrifice 300 milion people if necessary to dominate Asia.' He read all he could about the Chinese (at times enjoying streaks of quoting pertinent and impertinent ancient Chinese maxims). But since the day of his inauguration the Red Chinese - unlike the Soviets - had spewed unremitting vituperation upon him. He saw no way of persuading them to abandon their aggressive design short of a patient, persistent American presence in Asia and the Pacific. Consequently, even if Red China had not become an emotional and political issue in the United States, he said, any American initiative now toward negotiations, diplomatic recognition or UN admission would be regarded as rewarding aggression.
